A tandoor stress tests a chefs cooking skills. This one is a master piece for learning the art and science of tandoori and indian cooking. A must buy for anyone who owns a tandoor.

This book is Excellent. Unfortunately, I've been able to try only 2 recipes (about 10-15 times each) because that's what everyone wants (again and again). If you try these recipes in a regular oven hold the chillies a bit as the the end product is much hotter in an oven as compared to a Tandoor. (its also drier but that is to be expected). I guess the reason is that part of the marinade is burnt off by the Tandoor heat and some more falls off as the chicken sweats off some liquid.

Nicholas P. Cheremisinoff heads the Industrial Waste Management Program to eastern Ukraine under the United States Agency for International Development. He has nearly twenty years of industry and applied research experience in polymers, petrochemicals, and environmental and energy management in the heavy manufacturing and processing industries. Among his experience includes nearly thirteen years as product development manager and specialist for Exxon Chemical Company's elastomers product lines, and he actively provides consulting for private industry in the polymer technology areas. He has contributed extensively to the industrial press by having authored, co-authored or edited over 100 reference books and numerous articles. Dr. Cheremisinoff received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from Clarkson College of Technology, Potsdam, New York.

.... this reconsideration with the design treatment of Katy Homans adds her color and snap to what I consider an extended formal exercise by Friedlander. Funny to say, given the subject matter but I see much greater involvement and depth in his urban landscape and his treatment of fauna, in the natural environment and that cultivated. Yet, it is Friedlander and even with some debt to Brandt and Sheeler (surprisingly), the book is beautiful.

"Nudes" by Friedlander was first published 2o years ago--this new expanded edition contains most if not all of the original pictures, plus a few more.As a healthy hetrosexual male, I've given up on trying to justify why I find naked women attractive, or why I find myself unable to look away from images of them, so I usually try to avoid looking at them. But these pictures are something more--female bodies, unretouched, glorious in their curves and blemishes. The women seem to be comfortable in front of the camera, like cats in the sun. While there isn't a whole lot of detail about how these pictures were made, in at least one picture, the reflection of another woman shows, indicating that even though the photographs were made in the homes of the young women, the sessions were, it appears, very much under controlled conditions. Worth remembering is Friedlander's interest in Bellocq, who photographed prostitutes in New Orleans a century ago--the women in these pictures are not accused of having loose morals--to the contrary, they appear very much in control of their own bodies, their own selves. Their bodies, lovely in their youth, are full of mystery. Pure Friedlander.

Beautiful collection of B/W photos of female models, up close and personal. Few look at the camera. Engaging. Includes some with sun tan lines which are delightful, all natural.

I used this book in a training program for spiritual direction taught by the Lanteri Center for Ignatian Spirituality. The training focused heavily on spirituality. We read this book to deepen our understanding of psychological and psychiatric issues a spiritual director might face when offering direction. It was extremely helpful because in spiritual direction we do encounter people who come for spiritual direction who are facing psychological issues. Since most of us are not trained in psychology/psychiatry, this book helped to make us aware of issues when it would be best to consult with a professional in mental health. These issues might include depression, substance abuse, anger, and psychiatric disorders.Several of the people in the spiritual direction training program were mental health professionals and they also helped us to see the importance of consultation with someone trained in mental health for situations we might face.

May is gifted in articulating distinctions and discernments in a clear and understandable way. As a reader of much and varied spiritual literature, I find May to be extraordinary in his capacity to elucidate the mysterious with practical language and examples. May has keen insight into the human technical systems that have evolved over time to help us heal and grow. His artful descriptions clarify issues and questions that I have always recognized at a deep level, but could never articulate. You can't go wrong with this book.

I am beginning my second reading of this book. Chapter one is about the History and integration of psychology and religion. Until Freud, churches blamed possession and/or sin on people's outrageous behavior, when many of these cases were actually psychiatric problems. People like me and millions others suffered needlessly because Protestant and Roman Catholic Church leaders were looking in the wrong place for causes of some people's problems. We have much to thank Freud and Carl Jung for their willingness to help people. Psychology is less than 125 years. The Church has been around for over 2000 years. He and other preachers talk like their members don't get angry, don't suffer from depression or other mental health disorders.A major plus of this book is that author Gerald May, offers additional books to read concerning the care of our minds and care of our spirit.
